We spend all Winter (which is too many months up here in Western NY) looking at gray skies, brown tree limbs, gray/white snow then finally Spring comes and brings all kinds of colors!!! And what do we do? We go and put harmful pesticides/herbicides all over our lawns where our kids play to kill off those beautiful little yellow, purple and white flowers that have grown....for FREE! What are we doing? Why would anyone do that? Why is it nice to have a lawn that looks like a green carpet? Grass that poisons everything that comes into contact with it? A lawn that poisons anything in it's path or in the destination of it's run off? Didn't we have enough colorless, death over the Winter? (Not that Winter is all colorless, death but it sure can feel like that some days.)
Well, I love those little flowers. Especially the dandelions, not only can you eat the leaves but below you can click on my Pinterestpage to find Dandelion Salve you can make to use for dry skin. I've also pinned a link to a page that has a recipe for Dandelion lotion with Magnesium which I highly recommend for many reasons but, that's for another blog. My goal for this Spring and Summer is to both eat the dandelion leaves and to make the salve. We can share stories and compare notes!
